Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Eamon Scanlon — the reform of the regions of the Health Service Executive; (2) Deputy Timmy Dooley — the need for the Minister for Health and Children to outline what plans are to be put in place to reduce the waiting time for psychological assessment for children with suspected autism in Clare; (3) Deputy James Bannon — the need for the Minister for Health and Children to ensure that after a wait of 12 years a full complement of appropriate services for secondary care facilities is provided under phase 2B of Longford-Westmeath Hospital, Mullingar, County Westmeath, to ensure patient safety and best possible outcomes; (4) Deputy Pádraic McCormack — the provision of a new building for Clifden Community School, County Galway; (5) Deputy Finian McGrath — funding for the new centre for St. Joseph's for the Visually Impaired, Drumcondra, Dublin 9; (6) Deputy Charles Flanagan — to raise with the Minister for Social and Family Affairs the matter of the absence of a social welfare office in Mountmellick despite the high levels of unemployment, and the consequent hardship endured by the unemployed of the area who must travel to Portarlington which is not served by a public transport link from Mountmellick thereby frequently necessitating expensive taxi fares that the unemployed can ill afford; and the need to rectify this matter as a matter of urgency by opening a social welfare office in Mountmellick; (7) Deputy Ulick Burke — to ask the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Deputy Mary Coughlan, to indicate her plans for FÁS apprentices who have been made redundant by their sponsors and who cannot find an alternative placement in the current climate; (8) Deputy Michael Ring — the position regarding the construction of a new premises for Gaelscoil na Cruaiche, Westport, County Mayo; (9) Deputy Pat Breen — the proposals to reconfigure accident and emergency services as outlined in the review of acute hospital services in the HSE mid-west; the implications of these proposals for 24 hour accident and emergency services at Ennis General Hospital and the need for the Minister for Health and Children to debate this matter here in this House; (10) Deputy Paul Connaughton — the cessation of turf cutting on raised bogs; (11) Deputy Michael Creed — to raise the matter of the alleged €400 million shortfall in the amount required by the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food in order to meet approved grant applications under the farm waste management scheme; (12) Deputy Seymour Crawford — to urge the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to clarify the situation immediately regarding the farm waste management grants because all jobs had to be completed and documented by the 31 December; to ask when will the payments be made as farmers have to meet their bank commitments the same as anybody else and the recent media speculation regarding indefinite hold-ups in same is causing serious stress; (13) Deputy Simon Coveney — to ask the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government his strategy approach to addressing the environmental concerns caused by the toxic waste material on the former Irish Ispat site on Haulbowline Island at Cork Harbour, in light of the recent report assessing the site, and if he will outline when he will be bringing proposals to Cabinet, and when we can expect a decision on the issue; (14) Deputy Tom Hayes — to ask the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food to clarify the situation regarding the farm waste management scheme, to outline the balance of payments that are outstanding to farmers and to comment on reports that it is due to cost the State well in excess of €500 million this year; to ask the Minister to confirm the situation going forward as farmers are awaiting payment, and many have debts arising from undertaking the works on their farms. According to agreements with the Irish Farmers Association, farmers must be paid within 14 weeks of informing the Department that they have completed the works; (15) Deputies Joe Carey and Noel J. Coonan — that the Minister for Health and Children reverse the decision of the HSE on the reorganisation of accident and emergency services in the mid-west as published in the Teamwork report involving the transfer of acute medical and surgical services from Ennis and Nenagh General Hospital to Limerick Regional Hospital; and (16) Deputies Kieran O'Donnell and John Cregan — the establishment of a multi-agency employment and re-training task force.

The matters raised by Deputies Eamon Scanlon, Kieran O'Donnell and John Cregan, Pádraic McCormack, and Michael Ring have been selected for discussion.
