Vol. 694 No. 1

Adjournment Debate Matters.

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 21 and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Mattie McGrath — the provision of water to Burncourt and Fethard, County Tipperary; (2) Deputy Noel J. Coonan — the proposed abolition of Tipperary Institute of Education; (3) Deputy Andrew Doyle — the implication of the proposed cut in the half-rate carers allowance on the ability of the carers to provide the costly necessities of care for the sick and elderly in their own homes and the possibility of implementing the Carers Association of Ireland cost-neutral proposals following the disappointment of the decision by the Government not to publish the national carers strategy in March of this year; (4) Deputy Tom Sheahan — the provision of adequate accommodation at St. Oliver's national school, Ballycasheen, Killarney, County Kerry; (5) Deputy James Reilly — the provision of funding in respect of a site for a second level school at Lusk, County Dublin; (6) Deputy Ulick Burke — the provision of a new school at St. Catherine's national school, Aughrim, County Galway; (7) DeputySeymour Crawford — the need to extend and refurbish the Model school, Monaghan town; (8) Deputy Aengus Ó Snodaigh — the urgent need for the Minister for Social and Family Affairs to address the matter of the proposed Christmas bonus cut considering low-income families will be forced into the hands of unscrupulous money lenders should these cuts be made; it is paramount the Government prioritises the needs of those who are already in financial difficulty at this particular time of year; (9) Deputy Frank Feighan — the need to clarify the operation of the fair deal scheme; (10) Deputy David Stanton — to ask the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to debate the recent job losses in Youghal, County Cork due to the closure of Tytex, the last manufacturing plant in the town and if she will make a statement on the matter; (11) Deputy Joe Carey — the need to implement the recommendations of the interim report of the mid-west taskforce; and (12) Deputy Joe Costello — the need to introduce legislation to regulate the lobbying industry.

The matters raised by Deputies Frank Feighan, Joe Costello, Tom Sheahan and Seymour Crawford have been selected for discussion.
