I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 27A and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Pat Deering - the implications of proposed cuts to Carlow regional youth work services; (2) Deputy Denis Naughten - the need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine to set out his position on the EU Commission's proposals on the reform of the single farm payment and the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy; (3) Deputy Paul J. Connaughton - the future of mental health services in County Galway, with special reference to the 24-hour facilities at Toghermore House in Tuam; (4) Deputy Michael McNamara - bank confidentiality agreements and mortgage debt relief; (5) Deputy Gerald Nash - the need to examine the entitlements, in respect of travelling companions, of patients being treated under the treatment abroad scheme; (6) Deputy Charles Flanagan - the need for the Minister for Education and Skills to enter into consultation and dialogue with representatives of the Church of Ireland and boards of education on the matter of changes in teacher allocations; (7) Deputy Gerry Adams - the plans by the HSE to cut ambulance cover in Drogheda; (8) Deputy Aengus Ó Snodaigh - the right of part-time firefighters to be entitled to social welfare payments; (9) Deputy Anthony Lawlor - the need for close liaison between the Office of Public Works and local communities to maximise the potential of OPW national heritage sites; (10) Deputies Anne Ferris and Billy Kelleher - the need to discuss alternatives to the destruction of Guthrie cards; (11) Deputy Róisín Shortall - the need to produce a plan to address the position, arising from the increase in pension age in 2014, of workers who are bound by the terms of their contract to retire at the age of 65 but will now be forced to sign on the dole for a year before they can claim the contributory State pension; (12) Deputy Catherine Murphy - the delays experienced by people waiting for appointments with ear, nose and throat specialists; (13) Deputy Michelle Mulherin - the need to direct EirGrid to implement smart-grid technical solutions as a pilot project to stretch network capacity and minimise constraints in north Mayo and to facilitate a number of wind and biomass electricity-generating projects; (14) Deputy Derek Keating - the need to address the safety aspects of current traffic control systems on the N4; (15) Deputy Mick Wallace - the need to address the shortfall in the pension fund of the Abbey Theatre; (16) Deputy Brendan Ryan - the amount of money paid by the Department of Social Protection in 2011 and 2012 to general practitioners in respect of medical certificates and medical reports; and (17) Deputy Seán Ó Fearghaíl - the need for the State to act to alleviate the plight of the victims of thalidomide.
The matters raised by Deputies Charles Flanagan; Róisín Shortall; Anne Ferris and Billy Kelleher; and Derek Keating have been selected for discussion.
