Topical Issue Matters

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 27A and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Regina Doherty - that the single person child carer credit takes cognisance of those parents or families with two primary carers; (2) Deputy Terence Flanagan - the need for electronic accessibility ramps to be provided on DART trains; (3) Deputy Mattie McGrath - the need for the Minister for Health and the HSE to immediately clarify the situation regarding emergency ambulance cover in County Tipperary; (4) Deputy Brian Walsh - the merits of including the new meningitis B vaccine in the childhood immunisation schedule; (5) Deputy Dominic Hannigan - the need for funding for the school book rental scheme; (6) Deputy Billy Kelleher - the need for the Minister for Health to clarify the Government's intentions with regard to charges for GP care for children aged under six years; (7) Deputy Pat Breen - the future regarding a community owned and run radio station in County Clare; (8) Deputy Brian Stanley - the proposed changed to the local community development programmes; (9) Deputy Andrew Doyle - the effect the closure of the Kepak sheep processing facility in Hacketstown, County Carlow, will have on the farming community in Carlow and surrounding area, the job losses and the subsequent effect on the local economy; (10) Deputy Lucinda Creighton - the accuracy of the data collected from hospitals on their mortality rates and the implications for patient safety; (11) Deputy Pat Deering - the closure of the Kepak sheep processing facility in Hacketstown, County Carlow; (12) Deputy Marcella Corcoran Kennedy - the need to make it easier for members of the public to engage in the public consultation process; (13) Deputy Michael Colreavy - to discuss the reported consideration by the west and north-west hospitals group to remove maternity services from Sligo Regional Hospital; (14) Deputy Timmy Dooley - the need for the Government to discuss the delay in the issuing of driver licences; (15) Deputy Mick Wallace - to discuss Australia's position on asylum seekers, which has been criticised by the United Nations, against the backdrop of one death and injuries to almost 100 people in detention centre riots; (16) Deputy Denis Naughten - the need for the Minister for Health to provide clarity on future maternity services and maternity units in the west and north-west hospitals group; and (17) Deputy Luke 'Ming' Flanagan - the closure of the psychiatric ward at St. Brigid's Hospital in Ballinasloe, County Galway.

The matters raised by Deputies Regina Doherty, Dominic Hannigan, Terence Flanagan and Timmy Dooley have been selected for discussion.
