Ábhair Shaincheisteanna Tráthúla - Topical Issue Matters

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 37A and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Richard O'Donoghue - to discuss plans for an investigation into the management of University Hospital Limerick; (2) Deputy Aodhán Ó Ríordáin - to ask the Minister for Social Protection to address the concerns of Glin Jobs Club in Dublin 17 regarding redundancy payments for staff, as the service is closing to enable restructuring by the Department; (3) Deputy Michael Moynihan - to ask the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage for an update on infrastructure works in Castlemagner, County Cork to provide for additional housing development in the village; (4) Deputy Éamon Ó Cuív - the urgent need for the Minister for Rural and Community Development to make a decision on whether she will lower the transport charges for islanders on subsidised services to the islands in line with the fare reduction on rail and bus services in the rest of the State; (5) Deputy Michael Creed - to ask the Minister for Education if she will urgently review the design brief in respect of a new school in County Cork, details provided, given the current enrolment, the projected population growth in the area and the demand for additional classroom accommodation in adjacent new primary school buildings, and if she will make a statement on the matter; (6) Deputy David Stanton - to ask the Minister for Justice to discuss the urgent need to put in place a system to accommodate Irish students who require clearance to take up training positions on foreign-registered cruise liners as part of their training; (7) Deputy Ciarán Cannon - to ask the Minister Housing, Local Government and Heritage how and when he intends to address the chronic underfunding of Galway County Council; (8) Deputy John Brady - to ask the Minister for Transport if concerns have been brought to his attention regarding the provision of bus routes operated by Go-Ahead Ireland, if he will outline any measures that have been taken to improve the service and if he will make a statement on the matter; (9) Deputy Holly Cairns - the need to discuss with the Minister for Health the 206 people who had to travel the UK for a termination of pregnancy in 2021 in a context in which legal restrictions are forcing women and families to travel for healthcare they should receive in Ireland, figures recently released for 2021 highlight the scale of the situation and the need for intervention and, in addition, the recent ruling by the Supreme Court of the United States has brought focus back on this matter in Ireland and internationally; (10) Deputy Maurice Quinlivan - to ask the Minister for Health to discuss HIQA's report on its inspection of the emergency department at University Hospital Limerick and to outline what steps are being taken to address the concerns outlined in the report; (11) Deputy Neale Richmond - to discuss the provision of public health nurses for the Dublin 18 area with the Minister for Health; (12) Deputy Martin Browne - the adverse effect of lengthy waiting lists for children in need of orthodontic treatment; and (13) Deputy Brendan Griffin - the need for a motor tax renewal waiver.

The matters raised by Deputies O'Donoghue, Martin Browne, Cannon and Ó Cuív have been selected for discussion.
