I thank my colleagues for nominating me as Chairman of the Joint Committee on Economic Regulatory Affairs. It is a new committee and there is much that we can do. It is up to committee members to decide the direction. Many regulatory and economic issues can be examined. I hope that with cross-party co-operation we can explore many of these avenues for the betterment of the Oireachtas and the people we represent.
