Scrutiny of EU Legislative Proposals

We will continue our scrutiny of EU proposals, namely, COM (2012) 403; COM (2012) 456; COM (2012) 463 and COM (2013) 131; COM (2013) 134; COM (2013) 239. Is that agreed? Agreed. I propose that the proposals in schedule B do not warrant further scrutiny. Is that agreed? Agreed.

I take this opportunity to wish all members and staff of the committee secretariat a very happy summer. We have worked very hard during a long parliamentary session. In particular, we have done a lot of work, received a lot of delegations and embarked on major work on the title of "architect" and also climate change. It is a significant body of work. I wish everyone a very enjoyable summer and urge everyone to take a well-earned break. Go mbainfidh siad taithneamh as an samhradh agus go n-éirí an t-ádh leo go dtí an fómhar. I hope everyone has a very pleasant break.

On behalf of everyone present I thank the clerk, Mr. Eugene Crowley, and his staff. I understand that the committee secretariat is understaffed but we should use modern technology. I thank the Chairman. The committee has a broad remit. I thank him on behalf of my party.

I thank Senator Keane for her kind words.

The joint committee adjourned at 4.15 p.m. until Tuesday, 1 October 2013
