Business of Joint Committee

I remind members and those in the Visitors' Gallery to ensure their mobile phones and BlackBerry devices are switched off completely for the duration of the meeting as they cause interference, even in silent mode, with the recording equipment in the committee rooms. I ask that this instruction be respected.

The minutes of the meeting held on 1 December 2010 have been circulated. Are there any matters arising?

Was that the meeting at which we met representatives from Colombia?

I proposed that we take action along the lines suggested but this was not recorded in the minutes. Does the Chairman recall that in the papers we received on the day it was suggested support should be sought for a motion to the United Nations. The committee accepted that we should recommend supporting the motion, but this is not recorded in the minutes.

We will check and include it, if necessary.

I thank the Chairman.

Are the minutes agreed? Agreed.

We have received correspondence from the Joint Committee on European Scrutiny concerning decisions taken by it at its meetings on 2 and 16 December 2010 and 13 January. No proposals have been referred by it to this committee. Therefore, it is proposed that the correspondence be noted. Is that agreed? Agreed.
