Scrutiny of EU Legislative Proposals

We will deal with the scrutiny of EU legislative proposals. We will deal first with the proposals as listed on Schedule B. It is proposed that these proposals do not warrant further scrutiny. Is that agreed? Agreed.

We will now deal with the proposals on Schedule A. COM (2013) 315 is a proposal for the decision of the European Parliament and the Council on the deployment of inter-operable EU-wide e-Call. COM (2013) 316, is a proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council concerning type-approval requirements for the deployment of the e-Call in-vehicle system and amending Directive 2007/46/EC. It is proposed that these proposals warrant further scrutiny. It is also proposed to write to the Secretary General of the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport, seeking clarification on whether the Department has any concerns regarding privacy and data protection of users of the e-Call system; whether there is any financial implications for the emergency call answering services; the results of the consultations with emergency services and operators. Is that agreed? Agreed.

COM (2013) 427 is a proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Council Regulation (EC) No 2368/2002 as regards the inclusion of Greenland in implementing the Kimberley Process certification scheme. It is proposed that this proposal does not warrant further scrutiny. Is that agreed? Agreed.

COM (2013) 621 is a proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council amending Council Regulation (EC) No 718/1999 on a Community fleet capacity policy to promote inland waterway transport.

It is proposed that this proposal does not warrant further scrutiny. Is that agreed? Agreed.

COM (2013) 622 is a proposal for a directive of the European Parliament and of the Council laying down technical requirements for inland waterway vessels and repealing Directive 2006/87/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council. It is proposed that this proposal does not warrant further scrutiny. Is that agreed? Agreed.

We will now suspend the meeting for a few minutes to allow the witnesses to take their seats, after which we will commence our discussion on the proposal under Schedule B.
