Business of Joint Committee

The minutes of the meeting of 17 July have been circulated. There are no matters arising.

On correspondence, Nos. 507A and 507B of 2019 are emails received from Mr. Ian Drennan in the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement. We were aware of the issue raised and note the correspondence. Is that agreed? Agreed.

No. 508 of 2019 is an email received from Ms Mary Daly in the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport about the appointment of Mr. Michael Cawley as chairperson designate of Fáilte Ireland and offering two possible dates for a meeting. We will schedule the meeting as soon as possible. Is that agreed? Agreed.

No. 509 of 2019 is an email received from the Minister of State, Deputy Brendan Griffin, forwarding an email he had received from a constituent. We propose to schedule this item for discussion as soon as the committee's schedule is agreed to.

No. 510 of 2019 is an email received from Ms Katie Liston concerning Friends of Irish Athletics. I propose that we note the correspondence. Is that agreed? Agreed.

No. 511 of 2019 is an email received from Ms Amy Sweetman of the Restaurants Association of Ireland seeking a meeting with the committee. I propose that we schedule a meeting as soon as our work programme permits. Is that agreed? Agreed.

No. 512 of 2019 is an email received from Deputy Kate O'Connell regarding a concern of a residents' association about a proposal for BusConnects. She is seeking a meeting with the committee which I propose we schedule as soon as our schedule permits. Is that agreed? Agreed.

No. 519 of 2019 is an email received from Mr. Larry Larkin of Friends of Irish Athletics. I propose that we note the correspondence. Is that agreed? Agreed.

Nos. 501A and 501B of 2019 are emails received from the Road Safety Authority, attaching a letter from Mr. Pearse White. It is proposed that we note the correspondence. Is that agreed? Agreed.

Correspondence received from Ms Aileen Mulrooney in the Dublin Airport Authority includes a letter concerning drones. I propose that we note the correspondence. Is that agreed? Agreed.

Nos. 516A and 516B of 2019 include an email received from Ms Rita Aldwell in the Irish Aviation Authority, declining an invitation at this time to appear before us. Is that agreed? Agreed.

No. 517 of 2019 is an email, dated 13 September, received from Ms Mary Daly in the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport concerning the future reappointment of various chairpersons.

A briefing document was given to me by the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport on its views on issues on the Julianstown bypass. I propose that we invite representatives of the Department of Transport, Tourism and Sport and Meath County Council, as well as some local residents, to discuss the project which is of huge importance. Is that agreed? Agreed.
