Business of Joint Committee

Apologies have been received from Deputy Jonathan O'Brien.

Before we begin, I remind members to turn off their mobile phones completely as they interfere with the recording equipment.

We will now go into private session.

The joint committee went into private session at 1.33 p.m. and resumed in public session at 2.03 p.m.

I remind members and those in the Public Gallery to switch off their mobile telephones as they interfere with the recording equipment. Before commencing the main business of today's proceedings, I will deal with some housekeeping matters. The minutes of the meeting of 27 November 2019 have been circulated. As there are no matters arising are the minutes agreed? Agreed. We will deal with the correspondence after our guests are finished. We were hoping to have representatives of the Football Association of Ireland, FAI, at today's meeting. They decided not to come, but we issued an invitation to them again yesterday to next Wednesday morning's meeting. We have also issued an invitation to the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport, Deputy Ross, and Mr. John Treacy of Sport Ireland. The Minister and Mr. Treacy have agreed to attend and we are hopeful the FAI will also attend.
