AN CEANN COMHAIRLE:

Táim tar éis a iarraidh ar an Árd-ghiolla an Seanascal do thabhairt isteach. I have asked the Usher to introduce the Governor-General.

His Excellency, the Governor-General, Timothy Michael Healy, was then introduced and took his place beside An Ceann Comhairle, all the Members of the Seanad and Dáil rising in their places.

The GOVERNOR-GENERAL:

Before reading my speech I have the honour to acquaint both Houses that I have received a message from the King, which it may be thought will certainly engraft itself upon Irish Parliamentary history. It is as follows:
