Vol. 3 No. 6

TEMPORARY ACCOMMODATION OF THE OIREACHTAS. - BUSINESS OF THE SEANAD.

AN CATHAOIRLEACH

With regard to the business for next week, I think it right that Senators should know that it is reasonably certain we shall be occupied for at least two days. I think we would have enough business for Wednesday next without putting down the Committee Stage of the Railways Bill for that day. If the Seanad thinks it would be a convenient arrangement, I would be very glad to fix the Committee Stage of the Railways Bill for Thursday.

You think the Committee Stage of the Railways Bill will be completed in one day?

AN CATHAOIRLEACH

No. Under our Standing Orders the Committee Stage of the Railways Bill would be the last item on the Orders of the Day for Wednesday. I do not think it is very convenient to put it down for the end of the day if we have other work that will keep us reasonably occupied. Unless something unforeseen happens the Committee Stage of the Railways Bill will be fixed for Thursday.

Have you had any communication from the Government as to what other Bills will be brought forward, or when the House is likely to rise?

AN CATHAOIRLEACH

I have a list of Bills here, the second stage of which will be ready for next Wednesday. The list includes: the Pilotage Bill, Finance Bill, Dublin Police Bill, National Health Insurance Bill, Dáil Eireann (Courts) Winding Up Bill, Local Government Rates on Agriculture Bill.

The Seanad adjourned at 4 p.m.
