Vol. 3 No. 11

SEANAD RESUMES. - LOCAL GOVERNMENT (RATES ON AGRICULTURAL LAND) BILL, 1924—SECOND STAGE.

AN CATHAOIRLEACH

I will not ask the House to read this Bill a second time to-day, because some of the Senators representing agricultural interests who desire to speak on Second Reading are not here to-day, and, therefore, I think the Bill must stand over.

There are some pressing matters in connection with this, because the striking of the rate throughout the various public bodies and councils is involved.

AN CATHAOIRLEACH

It stands over. We are not taking the Second Stage to-day.

That will cause another week's delay.

AN CATHAOIRLEACH

I cannot help that. Senator Sir John Keane and Senator Linehan and others representing agricultural interests desire to speak on Second Reading, and they are not here to-day.
