Vol. 3 No. 12

SEANAD IN COMMITTEE. - FINANCE BILL, 1924—THIRD STAGE.

AN CATHAOIRLEACH

This Bill contains 45 sections. I do not propose to go through all of them, but if there is any particular section that a Senator wishes to call attention to he can do so.

I suggest that it would be desirable to leave over the consideration of this Bill until to-morrow. At present there is a very small attendance of Senators, and I do not think we should start on the discussion of an important Bill of this character just now.

AN CATHAOIRLEACH

I agree, unless that course would cause great inconvenience to the Government. What has the President to say on the matter?

I am in the hands of the Seanad with regard to that. I think it would be more convenient to discuss the Bill to-morrow. We have had a good deal of congestion in the Dáil with regard to business, and it is possible that I may have to ask the indulgence of the Seanad with regard to the Appropriation Bill. If the Seanad is prepared to grant me some indulgence with regard to that, I would willingly forego having this Bill this evening.

AN CATHAOIRLEACH

I am afraid Senators have not got an appetite for legislation this evening.
