Vol. 3 No. 13

SEANAD IN COMMITTEE. - BUSINESS OF THE SEANAD.

AN CATHAOIRLEACH

I think the Seanad will be very anxious to know from the President if he can tell us when we are likely to receive the Appropriation Bill. I want the Seanad to recollect that that is the fitting, and the only, opportunity for discussing the Estimates. I think we would be acting wisely in having time to consider and discuss the Estimates. The only time is on the Appropriation Bill, and we are now getting near the close of the Session.

I hope it will be possible to have the Appropriation Bill next week. I am not in a position to say what date, as we have only dealt with about one-sixth of the Estimates, although we have absorbed about half the time that we took for the whole Estimates last year. I hope that we may be able to have the Bill early next week.

AN CATHAOIRLEACH

If you have taken that amount of time, I hope we are not unreasonable if we ask for a couple of hours.
