Vol. 4 No. 17

PUBLIC BUSINESS. - PRISONS (VISITING COMMITTEES) BILL, 1925—COMMITTEE.

In this Act: The word "prison" includes any part of a prison set apart for the confinement of any particular class of prisoner;
The word "prisoner" includes persons undergoing preventive detention;
The expression "general prison" means any prison which is neither a convict nor a prison set apart for the confinement of persons undergoing preventive detention;
The expression "the Minister" means the Minister for Justice.

AN CATHAOIRLEACH

There is a Government amendment to delete the lines 12 and 13, and to insert in lieu thereof the following:—"The word ‘prison' means any prison under the control and management of the General Prisons Board, and includes any part of such prison set apart for the confinement of any particular class of prisoner."

I move that amendment.

I beg to second.

Amendment put and agreed to.
Section 1, as amended, was agreed to and added to the Bill.
Sections 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 were agreed to and added to the Bill.
The schedule and title were agreed to.
