Vol. 5 No. 7

SHANNON ELECTRICITY BILL.

AN CATHAOIRLEACH

Perhaps the House would allow me to say that since our meeting yesterday I have carefully considered the question raised in regard to the amendments moved by Senator Sir John Griffith to the Shannon Electricity Bill. I have come to a very clear conclusion that these amendments were not in order, not merely having regard to the nature and content of the Message dealing with the money grant, but also because they were, in my opinion, an undue extension of the original scope and purpose of the Bill. I mention that as it may be a guidance to us in future.
