Vol. 10 No. 13

PRIVATE BUSINESS. - BUSINESS OF THE SEANAD.

CATHAOIRLEACH

With reference to the Public Bills, I should like to say for the information of the House that it would be possible within our Standing Orders to take the Report Stage of these Bills to-morrow. but I understand, with reference to two of these Bills, that the Government would require further time for consideration of them, with the possible view of amendments being inserted here to-day. In any case they would prefer if the Report Stage was not taken to-morrow. I think possibly that that will also meet the convenience of the Senators interested in the Bills. The result would be that, presumably, they would come on next week. As I am at present advised, I see no prospect of any additional Bills between now and next Wednesday, and accordingly I propose at the end of to-day's sitting to adjourn the House until this day fortnight. On this day fortnight, and on the following day, I hope we will be able to get through the remaining stages of these Bills. That will give ample time to the Government and to the Senators interested to be ready with any further amendments that they may wish to suggest for the Report Stage.
