Vol. 20 No. 12

Fisheries (Tidal Waters) (Amendment) Bill, 1935—Final Stages.

Question—"That the Bill be received for final consideration"—put and agreed to.
Question proposed—"That the Bill do now pass."

May I ask the indulgence of the House to say a few words on this Bill before it passes its final stage? There was a matter referred to yesterday by Senator Miss Browne dealing with foreign trawlers. It is a matter of very great importance to the people living along our coast line, and on this stage of the Bill I desire to take the liberty of emphasising the importance of it for these poor people.

The question of sea fisheries does not come within the purview of this Bill. This is a tidal waters Bill.

Very well.

Question put and agreed to.
