With regard to my recommendation—to delete sub-section (4) of Section 7—since yesterday I have had an opportunity of consultation with a high official in the Revenue Department, and he has satisfied me that the section to which my recommendation had been directed should stand as originally proposed. I am satisfied that the effect of that section is only to confirm the existing practice and to avoid the operation of a certain legal decision which I am not satisfied, if it did come into operation, would even be for the advantage of the taxpayer. With the permission of the House I would like to withdraw the recommendation.
