Vol. 27 No. 8

Business of Seanad.

In connection with the business set out on the Order Paper to-day, I desire to inform the House at this point that a rearrangement has been suggested, owing to the circumstance that the Minister for Agriculture, who will be in attendance on Nos. 3, 4, 5 and 7, finds that he will be in a position to attend the House to-day, but will not be available to-morrow. Accordingly, it has been suggested—and the Minister for Education and Senators interested are in agreement—that when we conclude item No. 1 we should then proceed to deal with the items in which the Minister for Agriculture is concerned. The School Attendance Bill will not, under this rearrangement, be taken to-day and, if the House agrees, will be postponed until to-morrow or to the next sitting—a matter to be arranged subsequently.

With the agreement also of Senator Douglas and Senator Michael Hayes, motion No. 6 will not be taken to-day, so that all items dealing with agricultural matters can proceed in the order in which I have indicated. I presume I may assume general agreement to the suggested alteration and also the postponement of the School Attendance Bill.

Agreed.
