School Attendance Bill, 1942—Message from President.

I have received the following Message from the President:

Do: Chathaoirleach Sheanad Eireann.

Deinim-se, Dubhghlas De h-Ide, Uachtarán na h-Eireann, do chur in iúl duit leis seo gurb í breith na Cúirte Uachtaraighe go bhfuil Alt 4 de'n Bhille dar teideal Bille Freastal Scoile, 1942, i n-aghaidh an Bhunreachta.

Dá bhrigh sin, do réir fo-ailt 1º d'Alt 3 d'Airteagal 26 de'n Bhunreacht, dhiúltuigheas indiu dom' lámh do chur leis an mBille sin.

Ar na thabhairt fám' láimh agus fám' Shéala an 15adh lá so d'Abrán, 1943.

To: The Chairman of Seanad Eireann.

I, Douglas Hyde, President of Ireland, do hereby inform you that the Supreme Court has decided that Section 4 of the Bill entitled School Attendance Bill, 1942, is repugnant to the Constitution.

In pursuance, therefore, of subsection 1º of Section 3 of Article 26 of the Constitution I have this day declined to sign the said Bill.

Given under my hand and Seal this 15th day of April, 1943.
