Presidential Elections (Amendment) Bill, 1946—Second Stage.

Question proposed: "That the Bill be now read a Second Time."

The purpose of this Bill is to bring the rules for conducting contested presidential elections into line with the rules for the conduct of general elections. Exactly the same changes are being made in this connection as in the Bill which has just received a Second Reading. There is no alteration, with one exception: we make arrangements for announcing the result of a presidential election by sending messages to certain persons set out in Section 9.
