Vol. 39 No. 4

Business of Seanad.

It is proposed to take Items Nos. 1 and 3—Vocational Education (Amendment) Bill and also Motion No. 6, which likewise deals with education and which it is hoped will not take long. Might I remind the House that the Minister should be allowed to conclude on the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act (Continuance and Amendment) Bill, not later than 3 o'clock? There will be no interruption for lunch.

I should like to have some explanation as to the position in regard to putting down amendments to the Bill, if we are going to give all stages of the Bill to-day. What period will be allowed to Senators who wish to put down amendments to the Supplies and Services (Temporary Provisions) Act (Continuance and Amendment) Bill?

We shall take amendments up to 1 o'clock.

What is the grave urgency for taking the Vocational Education (Amendment) Bill to-day? Could we not leave it over until after the Adjournment?

That can be raised when the Minister for Education arrives.

It may be too late then.
