Vol. 46 No. 2

Fisheries (Statute Law Revision) Bill, 1956: Referred to Special Committee.

I move:—

That the Fisheries (Statute Law Revision) Bill, 1956, be referred to a Special Committee consisting of nine Senators to be nominated by the Committee of Selection and that the quorum be three.

This is the procedure adopted in the case of a Consolidation Bill and it has proved satisfactory so far. The Committee of Selection will, no doubt, nominate people with a knowledge of law and others interested in fisheries.

I take it that this side of the House will get adequate representation?

It is not a matter for either side of the House. I am certain the Senator himself and Senator Cox will be on the committee.

Question put and agreed to.
