Vol. 74 No. 3

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take No. 1.

On the Order of Business, I should like to ask the Acting Leader of the House at what time is it proposed to adjourn? We are not dealing with a Money Bill; we are dealing with a motion and there does not appear to be an element of urgency. I understand the House is to meet for some Report and Committee Stage business on Bills next week. Has any consideration been given to the question of sitting for the customary period on Thursday, adjourning at 5 p.m., and possibly concluding next week rather than inflicting on ourselves an overlong sitting today?

I agree with the Senator's proposal. If it does not appear as if we could finish by, say, 6 o'clock this evening I think we should adjourn at 5 o'clock until next week.

This would suit most Senators, rather than sitting for three days this week and a half day next week.

We can look at the position again at 4.30 p.m.

Yes. We will review the position at about 4.30 this afternoon and deal with it accordingly.
