Vol. 103 No. 9

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator de Brún, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The existing support arrangements for Irish cultural organisations such as Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann and the basis on which grants are allocated.

I also received notice from Senator Kiely of the following matter:

The urgent need for the Minister for Foreign Affairs to make strong representations to the British Government over the continued occupation by their forces of the GAA grounds in Crossmaglen County Armagh, and the harassment by these forces of the members of the GAA club there.

I regard both matters as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator de Brún's motion for today's Adjournment and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Kiely may give notice for another day of the matter he wishes to raise.

I will not dispute your choice. You are probably aware that the British army did knock down a wall at the entrance to the Crossmaglen GAA grounds. This motion should be taken as a matter of urgency this week or next week.

I will certainly consider that.
