Vol. 113 No. 13

Control of Dogs Bill, 1986: Order for Second Stage.

Bill entitled an Act to provide for the licensing and control of dogs and to provide for the protection of livestock from worrying by dogs and otherwise to amend and extend the law relating to dogs; and to provide for certain other matters connected therewith.

I move: "That the Second Stage be ordered for Wednesday, 1 October 1986." The intention was to have this Bill through the House before the resumption of Dáil Éireann so that this House cannot be accused of delaying the Bill. This is an important measure which has been in preparation for some time. The Government hoped that it would be possible to have it through the Seanad before the summer. This is not possible with the agreement we have now made and the other business which we have.

Question put and agreed to.
