Seanad Éireann díospóireacht -
Wednesday, 10 Dec 1986

Vol. 115 No. 6

Business of Seanad.

We are somewhat close to the time that we intended to adjourn. When we resume at 2 o'clock we will be taking the Control of Clinical Trials Bill, 1986. I think the most appropriate way we might proceed is if the Minister were to make his opening statement — I am making the assumption that that would not go beyond 1 o'clock — and when we resume with a discussion on the agricultural regulations after the Control of Clinical Trials Bill, 1986 Senators will have the advantage of having heard the Minister's introduction and been able to consider it in the intervening period. If that is agreeable to the House, I propose that is how we proceed.

I presume both items will be taken today?

Yes, provided the Control of Clinical Trials Bill, 1986, does not run to 6.30 p.m.

If it does run to 6.30 p.m. what is the position then?

My guess is that if it did run to 6.30 p.m. there will be complications because tomorrow the Minister for the Environment is engaged both in the Dáil and in this House. My guess is that it would be taken at 11.30 a.m.
