Vol. 115 No. 9

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take items Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Items Nos. 1, 2 and 3 are all concerned with the Single European Act and are a continuation of the debate which opened yesterday. I have had some discussions and some amendments have been provisionally tabled. There seems to be general agreement that we should proceed with minimum delay to the Committee Stage of No. 1, the European Communities (Amendment) Bill. Item No. 4 is the National Monuments (Amendment) Bill in Committee which was debated last night and that will be continued if there is time. Item No. 5 is the continuation of a Private Members' Motion which will be taken from 6.30 p.m. to 8.00 p.m. It is proposed that the House should sit later than 8 p.m. but not later than 11 p.m.

I just want to state that I was accused yesterday evening of being highly critical of The Irish Press group for their non-attendance in this Chamber. I have been critical of The Irish Press group for a number of months for their non-attendance in the Chamber. If there are members of The Irish Press group in the Chamber today I would like to address my sincere apologies to them for my comments yesterday. If there is not a member of The Irish Press group in the Chamber today I would like to say that my comments stand.

Order of Business agreed to.
