Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Dan Kiely that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Marine to make funds available for the repairs to the coastline in County Kerry damaged in recent storm.

I also received notice from Senator David Norris of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to review the case of a prisoner in Arbour Hill (name supplied) with a view to exercising his ministerial prerogative of commuting the sentence in the light of its comparative severity taking into account the circumstances of the case.

I also received notice from Senator Dan Neville of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to ensure that the extension to the girls' primary school at Adare, County Limerick is constructed in 1991 and thereby alleviate the present overcrowded conditions.

Tá fógra agam ón Seanadóir Pól Ó Foighil:

Chun a fhiafraí den Aire Comhshaoil an mbeadh sé sásta leasú caoi a chur i gcrích len a chinntiú nach bhféadfaí cearta vótála a bhaint go héagórach de shaoránach cáilithe i bhfianaise a tharla i gceantar Charna i mbliana nuair a baineadh breis is 200 ainm de liosta na gClár Toghthóirí go mídhleathach.

I also received notice from Senator Tom Raftery of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture and Food to enforce the hormone ban and to intercept the supply of such illegal substances, in order to protect the good reputation of our beef.

I also received notice from Senator Mary Jackman of the following matter:

To ask the Minister for Social Welfare to allocate part of the £500,000 provided in the 1991 budget for Women's Aid to the Women's Refuges, particularly Adapt House, in Limerick city.

I also received notice from Senator Shane Ross of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Marine to hold a public inquiry into any proposed infill and housing development at West Pier, Dún Laoghaire.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Kiely, Norris, Neville, Ó Foighil, Raftery, Jackman and Ross as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected Senator Kiely's matter and it will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senators Norris, Neville, Ó Foighil, Raftery, Jackman and Ross may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
