Vol. 140 No. 1

Business of Seanad.

I have notice from Senator Enright that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The urgent need for the Government to use their influence at the UN and EU to take all necessary emergency action to help bring to an end the massacre of innocent civilians in Gorazde by the Bosnian Serb forces.

I have also received notice from Senator Neville of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to sanction the appointment of a home/school liaison officer at St. Anne's primary school, Rathkeale, County Limerick, in view of the large number of traveller children attending the school.

I have also received notice from Senator Taylor-Quinn of the following matter:

The withdrawal of the Ryanair service between Shannon and Stanstead, the consequent loss of 60,000 passengers into the mid-west region, and the efforts, if any, being made by the Department of Transport, Energy and Communications to replace this service.

I have also received notice from Senator Ross of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to allocate money towards the repair of vandalised graves in the Jewish cemeteries in Dublin.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Enright and Neville as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. I regret that I have had to rule the matters raised by Senators Taylor-Quinn and Ross as not suitable for discussion on the Adjournment on the grounds that both matters lack ministerial responsibility.
