Vol. 157 No. 16

Radiological Protection (Amendment) Bill, 1998: Committee and Remaining Stages.

Bill put through Committee and reported without amendment.
Question proposed: "That the Bill do now pass."

I thank the Minister for bringing this important Bill before the House, for facilitating such a good discussion on Second Stage and for attending the House last week during our discussion of Sellafield. I wish him well with the responsibilities he has in this area.

This is a very important Bill and the fact that the Opposition did not table any amendments indicates our support for the legislation and the thrust of what the Minister is doing.

I thank the Senators for their contribution to the deliberations on this Bill and for their efforts on Second Stage, when we had a wide-ranging debate on matters concerning the RPII and its brief. There was another session last week dealing with the same subject matter which was beneficial to everyone. I thank all Members of the Seanad for their involvement in the discussion and for facilitating the speedy passage of the Bill.

Question put and agreed to.
Sitting suspended at 4.10 p.m. and resumed at 6 p.m.
