Vol. 182 No. 14

Business of Seanad.

I have received notice from Senator Ulick Burke that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to reconsider the application of the board of management of Abbey national school, Loughrea, County Galway, for an extension and upgrading of facilities at the school given that up to 30% of the enrolled students are in need of educational support and special needs assistants.

I have also received notice from Senator Norris of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Defence to make provision for the housing of a retired Army private (details supplied) who was left homeless after a fire.

I have also received notice from Senator Minihan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport to outline if he intends to honour the previous commitment to leave the Cork Airport Authority debt-free or if he has decided on an alternative structure.

I have also received notice from Senator Finucane of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Science to provide appropriate school transport for the students of the Galbally area who attend the second level school in Tipperary town and for the pupils in Lisvernane primary school as the existing vehicle is old and is subject to breakdowns, and no safety belts are available for the safety of the pupils.

I regard the matters raised by the Senators as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Ulick Burke, Norris and Minihan and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator Finucane may give notice on another day of the matter he wishes to raise.
