Social Welfare and Pensions Bill 2012: Motion for Earlier Signature

I move:

That pursuant to subsection 2° of section 2 of Article 25 of the Constitution, Seanad Éireann concurs with the Government in a request to the President to sign the Social Welfare and Pensions Bill 2012 on a date which is earlier than the fifth day after the date on which the Bill shall have been presented to him.

It should be noted——

It is without debate.

The Cathaoirleach has a lack of experience with the Council of State and we wish him all the best in his functions. It is important to note that the Constitution provides that the President may decide to sign the Bill earlier. Should the vote be carried, the Cathaoirleach can exercise his discretion this evening.
