Vol. 226 No. 13

Business of Seanad

I have received notice from Senator Thomas Byrne that, on the motion for the Adjournment of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport to introduce safety rules for vintage tractors taking part in so-called vintage runs on public roads, including the provision of roll bars or roll-over protection structures, to help owners of vintage tractors to enjoy their pastimes more safely.

I have also received notice from Senator Kathryn Reilly of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation to discuss the upcoming submission process for Action Plan for Jobs 2014, the reason youth unemployment is not one of the seven named priorities and the need to make a national jobs strategy for young people a core pillar of the action plan.

I have also received notice from Senator Lorraine Higgins of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation to indicate the impact, if any, the IDA Ireland equity control or equity purchase policy is having in attracting foreign direct investment to Ireland.

I have also received notice from Senator Averil Power of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government to set out the reasons people who have paid for pyrite remediation works will not be entitled to claim under the pyrite repair scheme announced this week and the need to amend the terms of the scheme to address this inequity.

I have also received notice from Senator David Cullinane of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine to make a statement on the need for funding to ensure the dredging of Dunmore East Harbour, County Waterford.

I have also received notice from Senator Mark Daly of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Finance to explain why banks may insist on having an actual death certificate rather than a fact of a death certificate.

I regard the matters raised by Senators Thomas Byrne, Kathryn Reilly, Lorraine Higgins, Averil Power and David Cullinane as suitable for discussion on the Adjournment. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Thomas Byrne, Kathryn Reilly, Lorraine Higgins and Averil Power and they will be taken at the conclusion of business. Senator David Cullinane may give notice on another day of the matter he wishes to raise. I regret that I have had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Mark Daly as the Minister has no official responsibility in the matter.
