Vol. 236 No. 8

Business of Seanad

I am conscious that I have an amendment tabled but I must leave the House in approximately five minutes, at approximately 5.40 p.m.

We might be able to get to it if we all co-operate.

Is it imperative that we take Committee Stage this evening? It is a short matter.

It has been ordered by the House and, as such, we must take it, unless there is a vote against it.

The points raised by Senator O'Brien, other Senators and me are very genuine. It would be a pity if somebody said in six months that we rushed this through.

That is fine but it was agreed after lunch today that all Stages would be taken today. There was no disagreement on that and no vote against it.

Senator Byrne stated he has tabled an amendment. We do not have a copy of it.

It has been circulated, but not by me. It is not my fault if the Senators do not have it. It was submitted well before Second Stage.
