Before I call the Leader to announce the Order of Business, I wish to announce that I have received notice in writing from Senator Jimmy Harte of his resignation as a Member of Seanad Éireann. I thank him for his co-operation and assistance during his time as a Member of the House and wish him well in the future.
Resignation of Member
I also pay tribute to Senator Jimmy Harte. As we all know, he had a very bad fall and serious head injuries as a result and was unable to attend the Seanad. I am sorry to hear of his resignation. He was an excellent Member of the House. He certainly represented the people of County Donegal, to whom his family have given long service. He ran in several marathons to help charities. We all wish him good health and happiness in the future and hope he will recover in the weeks and months ahead. We also wish his wife, Mary, and his children well. It is sad that he had to resign his seat in the circumstances, but we certainly wish him well.
