Business of Seanad

I have received notice from Senator Catherine Noone that, on the motion for the Commencement of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to address the need for a new inpatient cystic fibrosis unit at Beaumont Hospital.

I have also received notice from Senator Jennifer Murnane O'Connor of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to outline his plans to allocate public funding for IVF treatment prior to the enactment of the Assisted Human Reproduction Bill 2017; and if those plans will include funding for the provision of fertility preservation services in cases in which there is a cancer diagnosis.

I have also received notice from Senator Niall Ó Donnghaile of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to provide an update on the review carried out in July by the Irish Blood Transfusion Service of the ban on blood donations from persons who were resident in the North and Britain during the variant Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, vCJD, crisis.

I have also received notice from Senator Kevin Humphreys of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government to outline the reason for the delay in bringing forward legislation on short-term lettings.

I have also received notice from Senator Ivana Bacik of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education and Skills to outline the reason children with Down's syndrome are excluded from the July provision scheme administered by his Department.

The matters raised by the Senators are suitable for discussion. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Catherine Noone, Jennifer Murnane O’Connor, Niall Ó Donnghaile and Kevin Humphreys and they will be taken now. Senator Ivana Bacik may give notice on another day of the matter she wishes to raise.
