I have received notice from Senator Ruane that, on the motion for the Commencement of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister of State with responsibility for special education and inclusion to make a statement on the number of young people with special educational needs and disabilities who are not in education due to school placement breakdowns.

I have also received notice from Senator Diarmuid Wilson of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to promote driver and road safety initiatives, including the driver theory test, in educational and work settings.

I have also received notice from Senator Barry Ward of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Education to take steps to secure an autism support unit for St. Mary's Boys' National School in Booterstown, County Dublin, either by acquisition of the adjacent parish hall or other means.

I have also received notice from Senator Shane Cassells of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport to make a statement on the status of the national development plan review and the inclusion of phase 2 of the Navan rail line in the plan.

The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the status of Irish citizens living overseas who have received Covid-19 vaccines that are not approved by the European Medicines Agency, EMA, and who may wish to return to Ireland.

I have also received notice from Senator Tim Lombard of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Rural and Community Development to make a statement on her Department’s plans to increase funding for rural recreational officers to enable the administration of the rural recreation and walks scheme in west Cork.

The matters raised by the Senators are suitable for discussion. I have selected the matters raised by Senators Ruane, Wilson, Ward, Cassells, Wall, Kyne, Dooley, Byrne, O’Loughlin and Boyhan and they will be taken now. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters that they wish to raise.
