Vol. 285 No. 8

Gnó an tSeanaid - Business of Seanad

I have received notice from Senator Paul Daly that, on the motion for the Commencement of the House today, he proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the boarding out payment rates payable to householders under the HSE boarding out scheme for elderly people.

I have also received notice from Senator Robbie Gallagher of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the transport charges for people with disabilities accessing services in community healthcare organisation, CHO, area 1.

I have also received notice from Senator Barry Ward of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science to make a statement on compliance by professional bodies with European Commission Recommendation (EU) 2022/554 in recognising the qualifications of Ukrainian refugees in Ireland.

I have also received notice from Senator Lynn Boylan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister of State with responsibility for heritage and electoral reform to make a statement on the carrying out of testing for secondary poisoning in raptors by the National Parks and Wildlife Service, NPWS.

I have also received notice from Senator Jerry Buttimer of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine to ensure that the Port of Cork is a designated port for the importation of non-EU fresh produce.

I have also received notice from Senator Fiona O’Loughlin of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport to provide an update on the provision of a second bridge for Newbridge.

I have also received notice from Senator Malcolm Byrne of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport to make a statement on the regulation of jet skis.

I have also received notice from Senator Maria Byrne of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Children, Equality, Disability, Integration and Youth to make a statement on the core funding model and the support it offers to medium and small early childhood care and education programme providers.

I have also received notice from Senator Martin Conway of the following matter:

The need for the Minister of Health to provide an update on the payment of the pandemic bonus payment to community-based carers.

I have also received notice from Senator Seán Kyne of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Environment, Climate and Communications to make a statement on the review to be conducted under section 18(3) of the Inland Fisheries Act 2010 in respect of the functions of Inland Fisheries Ireland.

Of the matters raised by the Senators suitable for discussion, I have selected Senators Paul Daly, Gallagher, Ward and Boylan and they will be taken now. I regret that I had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator O’Loughlin on the grounds that the Minister has no official responsibility in the matter. I regret that I also had to rule out of order the matter raised by Senator Maria Byrne on the grounds that it is a repeat of a statement on childcare provision taken in the Seanad on 17 May 2022. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters they wish to raise.
