I have received notice from Senator Maria Byrne that, on the motion for the Commencement of the House today, she proposes to raise the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science to make a statement on the progress of the Student Universal Support Ireland, SUSI, grant reform to include eligibility of part-time courses.

I have also received notice from Senator Ollie Crowe of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Justice to make a statement on the recommendations of the Commission on the Future of Policing in Ireland in respect of the review of structures in the police service with particular reference to the proposed amalgamation of superintendent roles and how this might impact on the deployment of appropriate numbers of Garda members within communities.

I have also received notice from Senator Victor Boyhan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister of State with responsibility for planning and local government to make a statement on the funding allocation for the development of rural nodes.

I have also received notice from Senator Gerard Craughwell of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Transport to make a statement on the implementation of the safety recommendations made in the final report of the investigation into the air accident involving the Sikorsky S-92A helicopter at Black Rock, County Mayo.

I have also received notice from Senators Jerry Buttimer and Denis O’Donovan of the following matter:

The need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the provision of an additional neurology nurse in Cork University Hospital, CUH, for the south-west region.

I have also received notice from Senators Paul Gavan, Lynn Boylan and Alice-Mary Higgins of the following matter:

The need for the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment to outline the Government's policy on the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights, TRIPS, waiver, having regard to discussions at the current WTO ministerial conference.

The matters raised are suitable for discussion and I have selected those raised by Senator Byrne, Senator Boyhan, Senator Craughwell, Senator Crowe, Senators Buttimer and O’Donovan, who will share time, and Senators Gavan, Boylan and Higgins, who will also share time, and they will be taken now.
