SECTION 47

Question proposed: "That section 47 stand part of the Bill".

Will the Director of the National Museum be able for all these new duties because he features prominently here? Is it a responsible and onerous job. Would he have the capacity to judge and adjudicate on all the points mentioned here?

Normally what would happen if this matter came up — I do not think it would arise that often — the director would be able to delegate authority to his staff to check out the value of a wreck.

It is implicit in the Bill but it is not stated.

The director can also consult any experts he wishes to bring in himself.

It would be logical for the responsibility to be delegated to the director of a museum at local level.

Question put and agreed to.
