SELECT COMMITTEE ON ENTERPRISE AND SMALL BUSINESS díospóireacht -
Wednesday, 2 Feb 2000

Vol. 3 No. 3

Business of Select Committee.

To avoid the confusion that occurred the last day, can we agree to rise at5.30 p.m.?

The Minister and his officials might have to leave earlier, but I do not have a problem with 5.30 p.m. Is that agreed? Agreed. I will ask Deputy Boylan or his nominee to take the Chair at 2.30 p.m. when I must attend a steering committee meeting. It should be the vice-chairman or a nominee.

I will ask Deputy D'Arcy to take the chair.

A meeting of the Committee on Procedure and Privileges has been called for2.30 p.m.

I welcome the Minister of State and his officials. There is some pressure on committee room availability. Can we agree to meet next Tuesday, 8 February, from 2 p.m. to 3.45 p.m.? The joint committee meeting is scheduled for 5 p.m. The other dates which are available are Tuesday, 15 February from 2 p.m. to 3.45 p.m.; Wednesday, 16 February from 11 a.m. to 1.45 p.m.; Thursday, 17 February from 2 p.m. to 4.30 p.m.; Tuesday, 22 February from 2 p.m. to 4.15 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. and all day Wednesday, 23 February from 11 a.m. to 7.30 p.m. Can we agree on Tuesday, 8 February and I will circulate the other dates? Members should communicate with us as soon as possible on this matter so we can book the room.

We can reply quickly. With regard to the next date, the Minister's Department is answering questions in the House on the Tuesday or Wednesday.

I think it is Wednesday.

Wednesday, 9 February?

If it is Wednesday, it is fine. I will go along with Tuesday.

That is my understanding. I do not have my diary with me.

I regret that the committee is constrained in this fashion but it is outside my control. I am meeting a group at 2.30 p.m. to discuss the provision of new accommodation and I will make the point about the availability of rooms for committee meetings.
