Since the publication of the Bill, the Central Bank and the Department have been approached by a number of interested parties, for example the banks and the Law Society, concerning the definition of "deposit" as set out in section 2(2). On Second Stage, Deputy Michael McDowell adverted to possible difficulties with the definition as it stands in the Bill. I am currently examining all the issues raised and will introduce an amendment to section 2(2) on Report Stage. This may also entail an amendment to section 56, which is a connected provision.
