SELECT COMMITTEE ON FOREIGN AFFAIRS díospóireacht -
Wednesday, 13 May 1998

Vol. 1 No. 1

Report of Select Committee.

In accordance with Standing Order 79B I propose that the following message be sent to the Clerk of the Dáil:

The Select Committee on Foreign Affairs has completed its consideration of the Geneva Convention (Amendment) Bill, 1997, and has made amendments thereto and has amended the title thereof.

Is that agreed?

On section 12, the date should be changed to read "1998", not "1997". I presume that is done automatically and that it is not necessary to table an amendment in this regard. The Clerk to the Committee will send a written message to the Clerk of the Dáil to the effect I have outlined and the Ceann Comhairle will convey that message to the Dáil at the first convenient opportunity.

Report agreed to.

Ordered to report to the Dáil accordingly.

I thank Members of the committee and the Minister of State for their contributions to today's debate.

Members of the Select Committee must consider the Revised Estimates of the Department of Foreign Affairs and I propose to arrange a convenient date for a meeting on the matter.

The Select Committee adjourned at 5 p.m.
