Special Committee on the Judicial Separation And Family Law Reform Bill,1987 díospóireacht -
Thursday, 9 Feb 1989

Procedure

Chairperson

At our last meeting it was decided that the Minister and Deputy Shatter should meet informally to see if they could sort out the problems that were arising. Thankfully they have had a number of meetings and amendments have now been circulated. I would like to thank all the members of the committee for their co-operation on the number of occasions that we had to postpone meetings, for their agreement to the various postponements. I would like to thank all members very much for their patience. We have to decide now whether we will break at some stage for lunch or whether we will go right through. I will take suggestions from the meeting.

I suggest that at 2.15 p.m. we might review progress and if necessary, break for lunch at 2.15 p.m.

I suggest that we break for lunch and resume afterwards.

Perhaps at 2 o'clock we can consider the position. Would that be reasonable? We may be in a position where we have made such substantial progress it is worth continuing or people may feel they would like to break.

Chairperson

Is it agreed to review progress at 2 o'clock? Agreed. We will go on to consideration of the Bill.

Section 1 agreed to.
