SECTION 147.

(1) An authorised officer of the Pigs Marketing Board shall be entitled (subject to the production by him if so required of his authority in writing as such authorised officer) at all reasonable times to enter upon any licensed premises and to inspect all pigs, carcases and bacon in such premises, and to observe all or any of the processes used in the business carried on in such premises.
(2) Every person who obstructs or impedes any authorised officer of the Pigs Marketing Board in the exercise of any of the powers conferred on him by this section shall be guilty of an offence under this section and shall be liable on summary conviction thereof to a fine not exceeding five pounds.

Minister for Agriculture

I move amendment No. 166:—

In sub-section (1), page 63, to delete all words from and including the words " and to " in line 60 to the end of the sub-section.

We did not intend our inspectors to go in and watch the secret processes of the bacon curers if they have any at all. The last two lines in that should be taken out. We have taken out all the words after " carcases and bacon in such premises."

Amendment agreed to.
Section 147, as amended, agreed to.
