470 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science the progress in approving plans for a new gym at a school (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; if a standard or common plan for such gyms has now been established; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1659/04]
Amharc ar fhreagraIt has been agreed in principle to provide a PE hall of 806 sq. m. for CBS secondary school, James Street, Kilkenny. The planning and building unit of my Department has prepared PE hall templates that will standardise the construction of PE halls at second level schools and will be used to plan the provision of PE halls nationally. The PE hall templates are being piloted in a number of locations this year. The matter of providing a PE hall at the school to which the Deputy refers will be considered when the pilot programme has been completed and evaluated and in line with available resources and priorities arising.
